The Play Association provides training for existing and emerging Third Sector Play Providers.  PAHF supports providers with staffing and aims to improve the general quality of play provisions for children and young people of all abilities, in London, and its surrounding areas.

 

As a recently accredited training provider, we are now offering courses in:

  • Basic and Advance safeguarding

  • Bid writing for children’s and youth projects

  • Playwork.

 

An Introduction to Safeguarding Children and Young People

 

This course aims to provide participants with an overview of how to

effectively safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young

people.

 

The duration of this course is approximately four hours, and is

designed to meet a wide range of training needs. As an accredited course, upon completion learners will have earnt 4 Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points.

Advanced Safeguarding Children and Young People

 

This Advanced Safeguarding Children and Young People

course aims to build upon current child protection knowledge by giving participants a better understanding of how to recognise risks and report concerns, in their roles as professionals working with children, and young people.

Participants will also leave the course with a more in-depth understanding, of how to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people with disabilities.

 

The duration of this course is approximately six hours, and can be completed in one day, or alternatively can be completed over two days (2 x 3 hour sessions). As an accredited course, upon completion learners will have earnt 6 Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points.

 

An Introduction to Playwork Training

 

This course covers the basics of play and gives an overview of the role of the playworker.

 

The following topics are covered:

  • Basic playwork principals

  • The role of the playworker

  • The risks and benefits of play

  • Behaviour management

  • Promoting positive behaviour

  • Arts & crafts

  • Health & safety – evacuation procedures and first aid.

 

The duration of this course is approximately fifteen hours. These hours can either be divided into five - three hour sessions, or three - five hour sessions.

As an accredited course, upon completion learners will have earnt 15 Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points.

 

Bids Don’t Bite: Bid writing for Children’s and Youth projects

 

This half day course is designed to empower small organisations;

to shape their business plans to accommodate for young people and to give support to organisations aiming to complete bids quickly, and effectively.

 

The duration of this course is approximately three hours.

As an accredited course, upon completion learners will have earnt 3 Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points.

 

Participants

Safeguarding and Playwork courses are for: Playworkers, Youth Workers, Volunteers and anyone wishing to work with children in a play environment.

 

The Bid writing course is for: Tenants & Residents Associations, and other play providers.
